CONSTRUCTION

Trans African Concessions is not currently involved in any construction along the N4. However, a new underpass is being constructed for the St Michiel’s development between Belfast and Machadodorp. This is having some impact on traffic flow because of a deviation of less than 2km. 

MAINTENANCE

Maintenance work west of the Middelburg Plaza is complete. The road was narrowed to ONE LANE ONLY for approximately 2km. This may have caused some delays at peak times. Grass cutters are currently working Schoemanskloof and will then move to the Elands Valley area. 

Construction and maintenance workers are vulnerable when working in the road reserve. Please remain patient and respect their safety too.

WEATHER WARNING

Poor visibility

Large sections of the N4 route are particularly prone to heavy mist early in the morning and late at night. LEAD WITH LIGHTS and remain visible when you travel.

Dry winter conditions often lead to veld fires. Although fire breaks have been made and every step is taken to curb veld fires, these do occur and SMOKE often swirl across the road causing dangerous driving conditions. Please exercise caution during adverse conditions.

The N4 passes through rural areas. Farm workers and school children often drive or walk along sections of the road in these areas. Look out for PEDESTRIANS and SLOW MOVING VEHICLES.
